November Dance will feature a remake of the politically charged “Patriot Act Up” by Sara Hook set to a live performance of John Philip Sousa’s music. With this restaging, the Dance Department will join the Center for American Music in a celebration of the extensive Sousa Collection at the University of Illinois. Alumna Tracy Lang returns to create an explosive new piece for Dance Department students. Lang is currently a professor at Spelman College, a prestigious historically black college for women in Atlanta. The concert will also include a wide range of dance styles by resident artists from Dance at Illinois.
