The Image of Research – UR Edition is a multidisciplinary competition celebrating the diversity and breadth of undergraduate student research at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. All undergraduate students are invited to submit entries consisting of an image and brief text that articulates how the image relates to the research.

Benefits of participating in the competition:
All images submitted will be included in IDEALS, hosted and archived by the University Library for long term preservation. You will be provided with a permanent URL to share on your resume or with family/friends. It will also show up in Google results when searching for your name or the title of your work. All of the entries will be on display and celebrated at this year’s Undergraduate Research Symposium on Thursday, April 27,
Your image and corresponding text will be shared widely on campus including on the walls of the Orange Room, on the Library’s digital signs, on the Library and Office of Undergraduate Research social media accounts. The Image of Research – UR Edition, which is held during the spring semester, is organized by the University Library, the Media Commons, and the Office of Undergraduate Research. The Image of Research at Illinois was inspired by the Image of Research competition at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The 2023 competition is supported by the Teaching, Learning, and Academic Support unity of the University Library. The 2022 competition was supported by a gift to the Scholarly Commons from Mrs. Mardell J. O’Brien. Prior to 2022, Image of Research – UR Edition competition was supported by a gift to the Scholarly Commons from the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics.
